Resize images for LinkedIn

The feed is narrow and mostly desktop

LinkedIn's feed image is close to 1200 × 627, similar to a link preview card. It is displayed in a relatively narrow column, so text inside an image needs to be considerably larger than it looks in your design tool — anything under about 40 pixels tall in the source will be hard to read.

Two different cover sizes

Company pages and personal profiles use different banner ratios: roughly 1128 × 191 for a company page and 1584 × 396 for a personal profile background. They are not interchangeable, and a company banner stretched into a personal profile slot will crop badly.

Both are extremely wide, which means centre-weighted designs and generous margins around any text.

Document and carousel images

Carousel-style posts are uploaded as documents rather than images, and pages are displayed in a square-ish frame. Exporting pages at 1080 × 1080 from your slide tool and processing them as a numbered batch keeps them in the right order — pattern renaming with a padded sequence is the reliable way to guarantee that.

Compression on upload

LinkedIn re-encodes uploaded images and is noticeably aggressive with large files. Exporting at the display dimensions with quality around 85 gives its encoder a clean source; uploading a 4000-pixel export does not improve the result, it just gets reduced by someone else’s settings.

Screenshots and slides suffer most, because text is where re-encoding artefacts show first. If a chart or a quote card comes back looking soft, exporting it as PNG rather than JPEG usually fixes it — flat colour and hard edges are exactly what lossless compression handles well.
